Key Features: Sci-Coat 579 & 580 CM

 • Easy One-Coat Application: With minimal surface preparation required (no abrasive blasting or           profiling), the application process is quicker and requires less labor.

 • Advanced Performance: Si-COAT® CM™ products effectively prevent corrosion and stop rust             creep, ensuring long-lasting protection.

 • Cost Effective: Superior protection can be achieved by applying a thinner layer (8-12 mils DFT),          reducing the amount of product needed.

 • UV Performance: All colors of Si-COAT® CM™ products are tested to withstand 5,000 hours of         Accelerated Weathering (QUV), with minimal color change.

 • Flexibility: The high elasticity of Si-COAT® CM™ products allows for thermal expansion and               contraction of coated surfaces, providing flexibility.

Si-COAT® CM 579® is a single-component, moisture-cure, room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone coating. It is specifically designed for above-grade atmospheric applications in retrofit projects, offering long-lasting corrosion protection. It is suitable for various applications, including structural steel, bridges, machinery and equipment, areas with heavy corrosion, tank exteriors, metal roofs, and cladding. Si-COAT® CM 579® provides essential coverage and delivers high levels of protection, adhesion, elasticity, and longevity.

Si-COAT® CM 580™ Easy to spray, low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound). is a single component, moisture cure, room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone coating that provides long-lasting protection from corrosion in retrofit projects. Typical applications include structural steel, bridges, machinery and equipment, areas with heavy corrosion, tank exteriors, metal roofs, cladding, etc. Si-COAT® CM 580™ is ideal where coverage is essential.

AFTER

We opted to use Si-COAT® 579 CM™ due to its minimal surface preparation requirements, which removes the necessity for abrasive blasting or profiling. This choice significantly speeds up the application process and reduces labor needs. Additionally, it is highly effective in preventing corrosion and halting rust progression, guaranteeing long-lasting protection. By utilizing the Si-COAT® CM™ Series, we are able to lower maintenance costs and extend the tank's lifespan, ensuring enduring reliability and performance.

For the surface preparation, we successfully utilized high-pressure water cleaning with a minimum of 5,000 psi and rotating nozzles. This process effectively removed all loose paint and rust, bringing the surface back to intact coatings and substrate. Our team ensured that the surface was thoroughly cleaned of all contaminants, salts, grease, and debris, providing an optimal foundation for the coating application. Compressed air was used to meticulously blow down the surface, ensuring it was clean and dry before the painting process began.

In the coating application phase, a full coat of Si-Coat 579 was applied uniformly across the tank at a dry film thickness of 6-7 mils. This initial layer created a robust base for enhanced protection. We then applied a second full coat of Si-Coat 579, also at 6-7 mils dft. This additional layer ensured maximum durability and coverage, providing a smooth, resilient finish.
