This project focused on the surface preparation and coating of the top of a flying bridge, ensuring compliance with industry standards for durability and performance.
Work Completed:
-
Surface Cleaning:
The flying bridge top was pressure-washed to remove salts, contaminants, and debris, preparing it for the next steps. -
Protection of Sensitive Areas:
Items specified in section 3.1.4 were covered and protected to avoid damage during blasting and coating. -
Abrasive Blasting:
The 156-square-foot area was abrasive blasted with sponge media Silver 30 to achieve an SSPC-SP 10 (Near-White Metal) standard. -
Re-protection for Coating:
Protected areas were uncovered for inspection after blasting, then re-covered for the coating process. -
Coating Application:
The approved coating system for Freeboard/Superstructure (steel) was applied in line with SFLC Standard Specification 6310. -
Final Cleanup:
All protected items were uncovered, and the area was cleaned upon project completion.
Outcome:
The project delivered a durable, high-quality finish that meets stringent industry standards, ensuring long-term protection and performance of the flying bridge structure.
